Our Competitive Edge with Carrier Partners

How we leveraged our carrier relationship to provide a tailor-made solution to our client’s specific logistics needs.

The Challenge

Our client, a prominent integrated device manufacturer (IDM), was faced with a logistical challenge – transporting highly sensitive manufacturing equipment from Amsterdam to Xi’an. The cargo required a 747 freighter for transportation due to the limitation of cargo height. The only availability in the local market was through a leading Asian airline, which required a change of aircraft at the transit hub in below-freezing weather. However, the sensitive equipment could not be placed in an environment below a specific temperature. As this project was entrusted to Morrison, our team had to explore possible solutions to accomplish this shipping requirement.

The Solution

Through our established long-term relationships with our preferred carrier partners, we have priority access to the capacity needed for our client’s logistics requirements. Drawing upon these relationships, we engaged the airline with a proposition: amend the flight itinerary, enabling the same 747 freighter to continue to the final destination, which allows the cargo to remain onboard at the transit hub without being exposed to undesirable temperatures.

Through diligent negotiation with our carrier partner, our team secured the necessary approvals and accommodations, implementing the tailored solution for this sensitive cargo. Our willingness to negotiate a unique arrangement with the airline showcased our adaptability in meeting our client’s needs, even when faced with unconventional challenges.

The Result

The successful execution of our proposed solution yielded remarkable outcomes for our client. Despite the challenges posed by transporting highly sensitive equipment within minimal flight options, our team delivered a seamless and effective transportation process.

As a result, our client’s sensitive equipment was safeguarded throughout the journey, maintaining a consistent temperature above the critical threshold and avoiding the need to off-load and re-load at the transit stop. The risk of exposure to below-freezing temperatures was minimized, and potential disruption to the equipment’s functionality was mitigated. Our longstanding relationship with the airline at various organizational levels proved instrumental in negotiating and implementing the necessary adjustments to the transportation journey.

This approach to client service is not unique to this project but is a cornerstone of our operations at Morrison. We strive to bring this level of dedication, innovation, and personalized service to every client interaction, regardless of the scale or complexity of the logistics challenge.

By consistently delivering this standard of service, we aim to build long-term partnerships with our clients, positioning ourselves not just as a service provider but as a trusted advisor and integral part of their supply chain strategy.
